IMPACT

We use Tencel as it has a very soft, fluid handfeel and is cool to the touch leading to high levels of comfort. Tencel is a regenerated cellulose from Lenzing who use closed loop chemical best practices to ensure that they do not harm the environment through the processing stage. The raw material is sourced from wood pulp using only sustainably grown trees.
Cotton is a menswear staple and we use it as it is breathable, versatile and easy to care for. Organic cotton is generally understood to use less water, no synthetic pesticides or fertlisers and is therefore less damaging to the environment than its intensively farmed equivalent.

Innovation

A natural, super fabric

Tencel™ Lyocell is a cellulosic fibre derived from wood pulp that is fully certified biodegradable and compostable material, so you can be assured the fabric will revert back to nature.

Lenzing TM Tencel TM Lyocell

Tencel TM Lyocell is a regenerated cellulosic fibre manufactured from wood pulp and produced by Lenzing in Austria. Lenzing source the wood pulp only from sustainably managed forests and the processing of the fibres are carried out in a closed loop environment with over 99% of the chemicals used recycled, resulting in a low impact fibre that is produced at scale.

Tencel TM Lyocell is soft and cool to the touch, absorbant and when blended with cotton can create durable and beautiful garments.

Technology exists that allows pre and post consumer textile waste to be recycled and turned into fibre such as Tencel TM Lyocell and it is our aim to move towards these fibres in the future.

Our supply chain tiers

Tier 1

Garment Manufacturing

Tier 1

Garment Manufacturing

Portugal
--
This is the production step that involves final assembly of the garment before it is delivered to our warehouse. This is where most of the social impacts are felt as it is labour intensive and we have 100% visibility of all the factories working at this stage.

Tier 2

Fabric Manufacturing

Tier 2

Fabric Manufacturing

Portugal
--
This is the fabric production stage including the construction and dyeing of the fabrics and trims. This is usually where most of the carbon intensity is found as large amounts of energy are required for the production of fabrics. We currently have 88% visibility of the suppliers involved at this stage for our main fabrics.

Tier 3

Yarn Spinning

Tier 3

Yarn Spinning

Portugal
--
This is where the fibres are spun into yarns, prior to being manufactured into fabrics. This stage is energy intensive and is often done in a unit separate to the tier 2 production. We currently have 47% visibility of the suppliers involved at this stage for our main fabrics.

Tier 4

Fibre Production

Tier 4

Fibre Production

Austria, Turkey
--
Depending on the fibre type, this is where fibres are grown, farmed, or manufactured. It is often very difficult to trace the supply chain to this tier however we currently have 25% visibility of the suppliers involved at this stage for our main fabrics.
